Golf Course Rules

1. The Golf Course Superintendent, Head Golf Professional, or their Assistants may close all or part of the golf course for maintenance, inclement weather or due to tournaments.

2. The Club and all facilities are closed on Mondays unless it is a holiday.  The golf course and driving ranges are closed for maintenance on Mondays.
PLEASE DO NOT PUT THE STAFF IN A POSITION TO ASK YOU TO LEAVE ON THE DAYS THE CLUB IS CLOSED.
 
3. The USGA Rules shall govern play except where modified by local rules.

4.The golf course may not be used for any purpose except golf without the approval of  Management.

5. Members will be held strictly and exclusively responsible for the charges and conduct on the golf course of themselves and their guests, including property damage.

6. All members maintaining a handicap are required to post 9 hole and 18 hole scores.

7. No-show Tournament Charge - If you sign up for a tournament and can not play, you may be charged your entry fee unless you cancel your entry 24 hours in advance.

8. We encourage golfers to play in groups of four or less in order that an 18 hole round may be completed in four hours or less.  We also will allow groups of five if they are able to complete their rounds in four hours or less.  Groups of greater than five are not allowed at any time.  During the few peak demand periods we have at Glen Arven (see below), singles, twosomes and threesomes will have reduced priority on the course and should not expect to play through larger groups.

Tuesdays 12:30p.m.-2:00p.m.
Fridays 12:30p.m.-2:00p.m.
Saturdays 8:30a.m.-10:00a.m.
Sundays 12:00p.m.-2:00p.m.
 
9. If any match loses ground for one clear hole, it shall invite the following group to play through.

10. Rain Check Policy - You may receive a rain check for your unused cart fees and green fees if your round of golf is interrupted for any reason. Please notify the Professional Golf Staff upon leaving and they will either void a portion of the ticket or issue a written rain check.  Six completed holes on either side constitutes 9 holes played.

11. Each player must have his/her own set of clubs while playing the course.

12. Any food and beverages taken onto the course will be purchased from the Club.

13. Children 12 years of age and over playing golf with their parents will be charged for usage of the cart.  Juniors under the age of 12 may ride with their parents at no charge.  All juniors should receive instructions in the game of golf from the Professional Staff before attempting to play.

14. Members may walk and play golf provided they register in the Pro Shop.

15. Any Player not registering prior to teeing off may be subject to a $10.00 greens fee.
 

 

1. Members may walk their dogs on the golf course in the morning or evening, up to two hours after sunrise or up to two hours before sunset, provided they do not disturb any golfers present on the golf course.

2.  If golfers are present, members walking dogs are asked to please move to another area of the course away from all golfers.

3.  Dogs are not allowed on the course at any time during a tournament.

4.  Dogs are to be kept under control at all times (preferably on a leash).

5.  Members are expected to clean up after their dogs.

6.  Please keep dogs off tees, greens and sand trap.

1. Practice is permitted on the designated practice range and practice green only.
 
2. Range balls are for use on practice areas only.  No range balls may be used on the golf course.
 
 
1.  All members and their guests must register in the Pro Shop and pay appropriate fees before beginning play.  All play shall begin on hole #1.  Starting play on hole #10 is not permitted without approval from the Head Golf Professional or his Assistant.

2. Juniors nine (9) years of age and older may play golf at any time with permission from the Head Golf Professional or his Assistant, provided they have satisfactorily completed instruction by the Golf Professional Staff.
 
 
1. Pace of play will be monitored and all groups must be aware of their position on the golf course.  An appropriate time for 18 holes is four (4) hours or less.  If there is room in front of you and players are waiting behind you, please let the group through.

2. Players who stop or delay when making the turn are subject to losing their position on the course.

3. The Golf Professional Staff will have complete authority to enforce all rules and regulations including pace of play.
 
 

1. Proper golf attire must be worn at all times. 

2. Denim, bathing attire, tee shirts, cut off shorts, jeans and other dress of similar nature is not appropriate.   

3.  Shirts must have a collar and sleeves. 

4. Women are allowed to wear collarless and sleeveless golf specific attire.

1. All players must register in the Pro Shop to be assigned a golf cart.

2. Golf cart operators must be at least 15 years of age and have a valid learner’s permit.

3. Golf carts should be kept on paths whenever possible and must be kept on paths around tees and greens.

4. The Golf Course Superintendent, Head Golf Professional, or their Assistants, shall decide when carts must remain on paths at all times.

5. Golf carts should be driven at a 90 degree angle to and from your ball on all fairways (90 degree rule) when the "cart path only rule" is not in effect.  This is to protect the fairway grass.

6. GACC golf carts must be used on the golf course property only.  Private carts are also permitted under special rules.

7. Never more than two (2) people are allowed on a golf cart at a time.

8. Damage to any golf cart should be reported to the Professional Golf Staff immediately upon completion of play.  The Club will not be liable for accidents caused by a member or a guest.  Cost of repair to a golf cart provided by GACC and damaged by a member will be charged to the member, or in the case of damage by a guest, to the sponsoring member.

9. No carts are allowed within 30 yards of the green, beyond “NO CART” signs or in any other posted restricted areas, unless the cart bears a red flag issued by the Pro Shop because of a player’s disability or handicap.

10. Carts must remain on the cart paths at all times on all Par 3 holes.

11. Carts must not be driven in the heavily wooded area of the course.

12. Guests will be given a copy of rules when they rent carts. Subject to conditions established by the Club, members may own an electric golf cart under the following guidelines:
 
 
1. Golf carts may be purchased through GACC. Carts not owned by GACC must pass periodic inspection by the Club’s Professional Staff.

2. Golf carts must be housed and charged by the member/owner.

3. Member/owner will be assessed a monthly trail fee.  This fee covers only the member and their immediate family.  All others must pay the normal cart fee.

4. Golf carts will be restricted to homeowners of Fairways, Woodlands and Polo Grounds.

5. Members and Guests using privately owned carts must obey the same rules as those using Club owned carts.
 
 
1. All guests should be accompanied by a member when playing the course or using the practice  facility, unless specifically approved by the Head Golf Professional or subsequent policy.

2. Guest Privileges:  Golf facilities at Glen Arven are available and maintained for use by and for ITS MEMBERS.  Invited guests may use the club's golf facilities with certain restrictions.

a. Each member will be responsible for their guests signing a Guest Registration Card and paying appropriate fees.
     
b. Guests who live within 75 miles of GACC are limited to 4 rounds per year. *multi round tournaments or outings count as 1 round for this purpose.
    
c. Family member guests who live within 75 miles are limited to 6 rounds per year.
    
d. Guests and Family member guests who live outside of 75 miles from GACC are not limited but are subject to restriction if number of rounds is considered excessive by the Golf Professional.
    
e. Members of other private clubs which recognize reciprocity with GACC may play at GACC upon the approval of the Head Golf Pro and payment of all appropriate guest fees.

3. Social Members may play golf at GACC under the guidelines and restrictions of a regular guest including the paying of greens fees.  Play will not exceed four (4) times per year.

4. Glen Arven Country Club reserves the right to refuse or deny any guest service or play at it's own discretion.
 
 
1. Be ready to play your next shot when it is your turn. To help keep your group moving you may play when ready, even if you are not away.
 
2. Always park your cart between the green and the next tee, and never in front of the green. Next to all greens and tees, carts must be kept on the cart path.

3. When your group has finished a hole, leave the green immediately so the group behind may play. Do any scoring on the next tee while the others are teeing off.

4. Always allow faster players to go through when time and space permits. Be aware of your position on the golf course.  Remember: your round will be more enjoyable if you are not pushed from behind.

5. To keep the golf course in excellent condition, please help by:

a. Driving the golf cart on the cart paths whenever possible and always when around tees and greens. The 90 degree rule is always in force, if you are allowed to leave the cart path.
  
b. Repair all ball marks.
  
c. Rake all footprints in bunkers.
  
d. Fill any uncovered divots with sand provided on the golf carts.
Members and/or guests who violate any of these rules governing operation of carts on Club property should expect verbal warning from any staff member or Club member who is concerned about the well being of their golf course and Club property.

Habitual violators of any of these rules shall be subject to fines or other disciplinary action to the cart operator and riding partner.
